HongKabulary
An illustrated urban-dictionary only for Hong Kong.

Client:HK Magazine, SCMP |  Service: Illustration, Editorial Design  |  Year : 2014-2016

Having trouble in visualising abstract concepts? This is an example of how I turned abstract concepts into humorous illustrations.

Hong Kong is a place full of ridiculousness to HK magazine team while some said Hong Kong is a boring place. We consolidated what we have seen everyday and represented it as an an illustrated urban-dictionary only for Hong Kong. I was responsible for the illustrations. For the art direction, I decided to use cross-hatching style to imitate the dictionary-style illustration. The most challenging part was to visualise those abstract concepts, which has strengthen my visualisation skills and creativity for my later projects.
